My final week at Las Pyramides was the best (and at times the worst!). The week kicked off with a trip across the lake to El Arko, which is another property of Las Pyramides. This remote site is still being built, but it primarily houses people who are taking the Sun Course (a deeper, 3 month version of the Moon Course, culminating with 40 days of silence!!!). In case you’re worried, I am NOT feeling ready for that! We had a potluck lunch, then an ‘opening ceremony’ of sorts to start the retreat week. And that was when we spoke our last words.
DawnO Unplugged
2 blogs in 2 days you ask? It’s because tomorrow we start our final 5 days at Las Pyramides, which includes pure silence and a cleansing diet of teas, soups, and juices. I am ‘unplugging’ from wifi and communication while I ‘plug-in’ to my inner self. So it feels a little like my last day to write about San Marcos!
Shining on the inside, shining more on the outside
Hello again from Guatemala!
Chocolate Church Juice
Hola!
Breathe, release, live!
I am about 10 days into the month long moon course at Las Piramides. Our first week was focused on the physical body: feeling strong and grounded. In the second week we’ve been focusing on the water element, which is mostly emotions. Let’s just say I’m calling it ‘weep week’! I’ve released some excess baggage and feel like I’m already a better version of myself! It’s difficult to speak about the course in a blog format but if you’re interested in hearing more detail we can definitely connect to discuss it on a deeper level.
I live in a pyramid!
Today is my 3rd day in San Marcos and I’m settling in pretty well. The town is a labyrinth of walking paths punctuated by different little shops, healing centres, restaurants, and hostels. There are signs on all kinds of bulletin boards advertising every holistic/spiritual/’out there’ treatment you could ever imagine. Rebirthing, intuitive massage, readings based on your birthdate or family tree, lucid dreaming, cacao ceremonies: find it all, and more, here! As expected there are people of every ethnicity with every kind of tattoos, piercings, clothing, etc that you can imagine too.
San Pedro
I’m blogging fast and furiously because the yoga thing starts tomorrow so I don’t know how many blog posts I’ll be doing from there. It might mess with my aura or something!
Guat’s Up?
The worst part about travelling is the travelling part! I thought I was so slick, having no problems with my 4 connections to get to Guatemala City, then getting to the bus station and hopping onto my 3 hour bus ride to a town called Panajachel. What I did not figure out until too late was that I had to get off the bus at some point and connect onto another one. I thought I had my bases covered. The guy in the seat next to me was supposed to be helping me but he fell asleep and failed to tell me when I had to get off the bus. Thank goodness I speak some Spanish. After some temporary panic I was on another bus to my destination. So I dragged my ‘not as cocky anymore’ butt off the bus 7.5 hours after my starting point!
