This vacation has been pretty amazing.  We are definitely fans of Zihuatanejo and will be sad to leave on Sunday.  Since we last blogged DawnO and I have had some pretty cool experiences including a couple of bucket list items that have now been checked off.

On January 1, DawnO went fly boarding.  If you haven’t  heard of it, I suggest you google it and watch a few videos.  It’s a board that allows you to hover over the water like the Green Goblin.  Dawn said the experience was comparable to bathing the elephant in Nepal.  In both cases she got a face full of water that was salty for different reasons.

This morning I got to take a turn and it was quite fun.  I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get up, but once I got the hang of it, it was quite easy to manoeuvre around.  I would definitely recommend it.

DawnO also took a surfing lesson.  She got up on her first attempt.  Nailed it.  She then proceeded to get up 80% of the time after that.  I don’t know if being a yoga Jedi helps, but it definitely doesn’t hurt.

All-in-all we have had a great trip.  We head back to the great white north tomorrow afternoon, but we will be back in Mexico at the end of January.  We will be in Huatuco with my extended family for an Olson wedding!  We will probably blog then.

Estaba una semana muy bueno. Me encanta Cuernavaca y quiero regressir pronto.
(It was a very good week. I love Cuernavaca and want to return soon.)

Tuvimos una comida especial por mi ultimo noche – una muy buena sopa con tortillas con frijoles negros y crema. Riccisimo! Entonces fuimos al centro y tuvimos muchos experiencias interesantes.
(We had a special dinner for my last night – a very good soup with tortillas with black retried beans and cream. Delicious! Then we went to the city center and had many interesting experiences.)

Estoy emocionada por que puedo hablar con los Mexicanos ahora y esta muy natural y mas facile. Hay mucho que necessito aprendir, pero estoy en el calle.
(I am excited because I can speak with Mexicans now and it’s very natural and much easier. There is lots that I need to learn, but I am on the road!)

Poco a poco estoy aprendiendo mas. El realidad, es grande a grande! Imersion es el mejor ruta a aprendir (no sopresa).
(Little by little I am learning more. Actually it’s big by big! Immersion is the best way to learn (no surprise).

Mi cerebro es trabaja como nunca trabaja antes. Esta como los ‘campana suena’ examines en universidad. Me encanta la provocacion!
(My brain is working like it’s never worked before. It’s like ‘bell ringer’ exams in university. I love the challenge!)

Esta es pequeno problemas:
– la premiero mañana, pense ellos diceron “desayunamos a 6:30”, pero en verdad este es 7:30. No espero que nadie ver.
– dije una mala palabra en classe sin saber.
– ropo mi I-pad
(There are small problems:
– the first morning I thought they said breakfast at 6:30, but it was at 7:30. I hope no one saw!
– I said a bad word in class without knowing
– I broke my I-pad)

Pero no hay problemas que jentes piensan en Mexico. Siento seguro, jentes son muy simpatico, y recomendo viajar aqui, solo o con tu familia.
(But there are not the problems that people think of in Mexico. I feel safe, the people are very friendly, and I recommend travel here, alone or with family.)

Vene a Cuernavaca ayer despues de un largo dia de volar (era un ‘leche-corer’). Me encontre mi nueva familia y vi mi nueva casa por una semana. Est muy bonita. Vivo con mi ‘padres’ Francisco y Maru y con quatros autres estudientes. Eren de Los Estados Unidos.
(I came to Cuernavaca yesterday after a long day of flying (it was a milk-run). I met my new family and saw my new house for one week. It is very beautiful. I live with my ‘parents’ Francisto and Maru and with 4 other students. They are from the USA.)

Hoy estaba mi primera vez a la escuela espanol. Tenia 6 horas de idioma – 3 de gramatica y 3 de practicar conversasion. Despues, comi y luego fue al centro de la ciudad por un tour. Vi la cathedral y mercado. Me gusta Cuernavaca mucho.
(Today was my first day in Spanish school. I had 6 hours of language – 3 of grammar and 3 of conversation practice. After, I ate and then went to the center of the city for a tour. We saw the cathedral and market. I like Cuernavaca vey much.)

Estoy aprendiendo muchisimo espanol. No crio cuanto savo por que immersion. Hablo solo espanol aqui – est mejor por aprendir mas. Lociento a si que muchos faultas, pero escribe sin dictionario!
(I am learning lots of Spanish. I can’t believe how much I know because of immersion. I speak only Spanish here -is the best for learning more. I am sorry if there are many mistakes, but I wrote this without a dictionary!)
