Et Voilà

These weary Olsons arrived in Paris and we spent almost the entire day making our way to our accommodation via public transport. We were definitely not at our best after weeks of stress, the tail end of colds, and jet lag, but we persevered.

The morning our brains were more clear and our excitement heightened as we made our way to Roland Garros, home of the French Open. We had each won the lottery system to buy tickets so we had day and night sessions for 2 days!

We were very pleased with the matches that were scheduled on our courts, but we also did a bit of switching around to get the chance to see some players. You probably don’t care, but for our own records and memories here were the matches we saw all or part of:

May 26:

Medvedev v. Walton

Gauff v. Townsend

Bublik v. Struff

Auger-Aliasseme v. Altmaier

Sinner v. Tobur

May 27:

Dabrovski/Stefani v. Haverlag/Lumsden

Swiatek v. Bejlek

Svitolina v. Quevedo

Djokovic v. Royer

Machac v. Zverev

Sounds like a lot of tennis, right? It was 12+ hour days in over 30 degrees of heat, which is not for the weak! About halfway through the Djokovic match, where our seats were in the direct sun, we had to say “mercy” and find loungers in the shade to watch it on a screen.

It was an exceptional 2 days of tennis. RobO’s favourite match was the Dabrovski doubles match because we were courtside. I really liked cheering on our Felix, though unfortunately we were too exhausted to see him come from behind during his 5 set victory.

We fly to Romania tonight, so we spent the day doing a wee bit of sightseeing and eating in the City of Love. Merci, Paris!
